Pool Manager (Seasonal) 

The Pool Manager is responsible for overseeing key pool and pool pavilion management responsibilities. He/She will report to the General Manager. This is a seasonal position (Spring and Summer). Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 days per week (6 days is ideal).

Responsibilities and Duties

February – April:

  • Assisting the Pool Operations Manager with lifeguard interviews as needed.

May – September:

  • Helping to create an environment at the pool where: families feel safe while having fun; rules are respected by all; lifeguards are dependable, responsible, attentive and service-oriented on deck; and the front desk attendant is knowledgeable of club programs and events, attentive and service-oriented.
  • Responding to medical emergencies that occur at the pool, in or around the pool pavilion, or on the playground.
  • Ensuring First Aid, CPR, emergency and other safety procedures are available and accessible at all times during pool operating hours.
  • Enforcing all Club rules, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintaining professional, respectful relationships and interactions with the Club members, Board of Governors, staff, outside vendors and contractors.
  • Ensuring the entire pool area is clean and safe, including the main pool, kiddy pool, pool decks, pool office, bathrooms & locker rooms, upper and lower pool pavilion decks, and playground. This requires hourly walk-around inspections and assignment of maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Ensuring high standards of pool cleanliness, water clarity, temperature regulation and proper chemical levels. This includes monitoring the pool water per established schedule, ensuring the pool conditions (chlorination and PH levels) are in compliance with all state and city codes, and the pool filtration system is functioning properly.
  • Supervising the lifeguard and pool office staff while on duty.
  • Instilling attention to safety and discipline with lifeguards by communicating and enforcing established safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintaining lifeguard and pool office staff rotations and ensuring breaks are worked into the rotations in a consistent, timely and understood manner.
  • Working closely with the entire aquatics staff in promoting aquatics activities and programs.
  • Assisting the General Manager, aquatics coaches, aquatics and social chairperson with coordination of afternoon and evening aquatics events and club activities including, but not limited to, swim/dive meets, water polo games, aquatics team socials, and club socials.
  • Communicating regularly with the General Manager and the Pool Operations Manager regarding pool safety, lifeguards, facilities maintenance, and membership issues.
  • Performing a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to, answering the phone, greeting members at the pool entrance, e-mailing members, creating excel spreadsheets, processing member charges in POS system, and ordering office supplies.
  • Performing a variety of maintenance duties including, but not limited to, setting up chairs and tables for birthday parties and club functions, picking up trash and garbage, assisting with facility cleaning when necessary, etc.
  • Providing information to members and prospective members about the swim facility and aquatics instructional and team programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Age 21+.
  • 1+ years of managerial experience.
  • Possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications as of May 1, 2018. Lifeguard certification a plus, but not required.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 5 days per week (6 days is ideal). Work hours are part-time during the "Spring season" (May 26 - TBD based on last day of school) and "late Summer season" (TBD based on selected candidate's availability), and full-time during the "Summer season" (June 21 - August 25 from 1:00pm to approx. 8:15pm).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions, in and around the pool, pool pavilion and playground areas.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Excellent member service and communication skills.

Head Lifeguard (Seasonal) 

The Head Lifeguard is responsible for assuring the safety of swimming pool users by preventing and responding to emergencies and by the on-site supervision of lifeguards. In addition, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for assisting the Pool Operations Manager and/or Pool Manager on Duty with maintaining a high standard of cleanliness of the swimming pools, surrounding decks, furniture, equipment, pool office pool pavilion and playground.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as liaison between the Pool Operations Manager and the lifeguard staff.
  • Assist the Pool Operations Manager with scheduling of the lifeguard staff.
  • Assist the Pool Operations Manager with overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the main pool, wading pool, surrounding pool deck, furniture & equipment, pool office, pool pavilion and playground.
  • Perform daily safety/cleanliness inspections of pool facility. Analyze and correct hazards as applicable and report hazards and corrective steps taken to the Pool Operations Manager.
  • Monitor all chemical readings and mechanical operations of pool. Correct or report any chemical abnormalities or mechanical problems immediately to the Pool Operations Manager and/or Pool Manager on Duty. Assist with clearing pool and closing facility if situation is uncorrectable and presents a safety hazard to members.
  • Oversee pool operations records and reports, including but not limited to lifeguard staff time sheets, daily pool maintenance checklists, pool chemical test results, accident reports, and member sign-in sheets.
  • Assist the Pool Operations Manager and/or Pool Manager on Duty with ensuring lifeguards perform required duties, adhere to club rules and standards, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Assist the Pool Operations Manager with lifeguard training.
  • Assist Pool Operations Manager with the review and evaluation of lifeguard staff performance.
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Enforce all club policies, rules and regulations.
  • Cover the pool office front desk as assigned by the Pool Operations Manager, Pool Manager on Duty, or General Manager.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of club aquatics events and social events.
  • Notify Pool Operations Manager, Pool Manager on Duty, or General Manager of any member concerns or complaints.
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by the Pool Operations Manager or Pool Manager on Duty.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of paid lifeguard experience; head or senior lifeguard experience a plus. Must have thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques. Demonstrated ability to perform job duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training / First Aid / CPR / AED certifications. Successful completion of Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Management courses a plus.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to speak effectively to adults and children, as well as in front of a group.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Must have the ability to solve problems and identify safety concerns while actively monitoring lifeguard staff, club members and guests to prevent hazards such as slipping, drowning and other potential injuries.
  • Member Services Skills: Must be member service oriented, accurate, self-motivated, and be able to use time efficiently.
  • Work Availability: Must be willing to work irregular hours, shifts, holidays or weekends as required.
  • Other Conditions: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more and have high endurance for frequent walking, standing, kneeling, sitting and swimming. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Lifeguard (Seasonal)

Our Lifeguard staff is responsible for assuring the safety of swimming pool users by preventing and responding to emergencies.   • Enforce all club policies, rules and regulations.
  • When assigned, complete all necessary records and reports, including but not limited to the daily pool maintenance checklist and the pool chemical test log.
  • When assigned, report any pool chemical abnormalities or problems to the Pool Manager on Duty or Head Lifeguard.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the main pool, kiddy pool, surrounding pool deck and equipment, tables & chairs, pool pavilion, locker rooms and playground.
  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of club aquatics events and social events.
  • Cover the pool office front desk when assigned by the Pool Manager on Duty or General Manager.
  • Adhere to club rules and standards, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Notify Pool Manager on Duty or General Manager of any member concerns or complaints.
